about

A contemporary of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi (b. 1922; d. 2011) and Pt. Pran Nath (b. 1918; d. 1996), Yeshwantrai Purohit was among the most beautiful singers of the Kirana gharana (school) derived from the style of Abdul Karim Khan (b. 1872; d. 1937). The few paragraphs of notes on the album's jacket are the only English-language biographical information available.

Omkarnath Thakur (b. Jahaj, Khambhat, Gujarat, June 24, 1897; d. Dec. 29 1967) before devoting himself to Balkrishnabuwa Kapileshwar (b. Belgaum near Kolhapur, Maharashtra Nov. 13, 1896; d. Sept 26th 1982) who had worked closely with Utd. Abdul Karim Khan for decades and was his first biographer.
